Ensemble Theatre's 2025 Production of:
Henrik Ibsen’s AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE -A Rust-Belt Adaptation ::

PERFORMANCE DATES:
February 7th 2025-February 23rd 2025. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm.
All performances will be on the campus of John Carroll University.
AUDITION DATES:
Initial Auditions will be video submission followed by in-person callbacks.
Virtual Auditions must be submitted by: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14th, 2024
Actors who have worked on previous Ensemble shows can request to just attend callbacks.

CALLBACKS:
Callbacks will be IN PERSON on Saturday November 16th at John Carroll University.
Callbacks will be in the Marinello Little Theatre.
Map and additional information will be provided for those called back.
SYNOPSIS:
In a mid-sized Rust-Belt city during the Trump era, trouble brews as Dr. Tammie Stockman raises the alarm about a looming environmental crisis. This adaptation of Ibsen’s classic questions the motivations for action amidst fear and economic pressure. Tammie must confront the cost of truth—her job, her relationships, and her very identity. Is she the savior or the enemy of the people?
CHARACTERS:
Dr. Tammie “Tam” Stockman: 30s/40s, female. Confident/stubborn scientist driven by her pursuit of the truth.
Kate Lee: 30s/40s, female. Tammie's supportive wife and artist who yearns for more in life.
Peter Stockman: 40s, male. Tammie's brother and the mayor, who manipulates public opinion for his gain.
Bill Wynnefield: 20s, male. The editor of the local newspaper, caught between truth and community pressures.
Martin: 70s, male. A curmudgeonly widowed farmer and father to Tammie and Peter, set in his conservative beliefs.
Petra: Early 20s, female. Tammie & Kate's adopted daughter, idealistic filmmaker with a passion for social change.
Heather: 40s, female. The owner of the struggling local newspaper and Bill’s boss, facing her own challenges.
Anthony Kalan: 50s/60s, male. Self-made businessman, head of the chamber of commerce, advocating for the status quo.
SETTING:
A post-industrial Rust Belt city, nearly the present day.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Please prepare a contemporary monologue (2 minutes max) that showcases your acting range.
Provide a headshot and resume. Please submit any known conflicts from
January 6th 2025 (proposed first week of rehearsal) - February 23rd 2025 (closing night of the show.)
Auditions are open to AEA (Special Appearance -Tier 1) and Non-AEA (receive a stipend) actors.
